At present, the Assumption Cathedral - the biggest Orthodox cathedral in northern and western Europe. The total height of the building - 51 meters. Cathedral crowned thirteen gilded domes and cupolas. The walls are made of red brick, as wet and windy the climate does not allow to apply the plaster. Visually reminiscent of the Cathedral of the XVI century stone church in Kolomna, near Moscow.

The interior is decorated in the Byzantine style. Dome of the cathedral increases due to the lack of seats, and the location of the columns near the walls creates the impression integrity. Significant columns carved out of solid granite blocks. In the column abut arches, painted Byzantine ornaments. The upper part of the roof and ceiling arachnae above the altar is decorated with a pattern of blue starry sky with the image of the Holy Spirit in the center.
